Dale Boyd Turner, 81, a resident of Fredonia, died Monday, January 26, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Fredonia. He was born June 7, 1927, in Chetopa, KS, the son of James and Grace (Whitner) Turner. On May 1, 1947, he married Joyce Knoles and she preceded him in death July 11, 1991. He married Carol Krie in Fredonia on June 27, 1992, and she survives at their home. He was an employee, manager and later joint owner of Cox Grain in Fredonia. He retired in 1992 after working there 44 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from June, 1944 to June 1946. His memberships include the First Christian Church, a charter member of the Fredonia Eagles, American Legion and the V.F.W. His survivors include: Wife - Carol Daughter - June Glasgow of Hillsboro, KS Sons - Curtis Turner of Centennial, CO Richard Turner of Longmont, CO Step-children - Kim Gillen, Ret. of St.Roberts, MO Valrie Jordan of Fredonia, KS Robin Price of Fredonia, KS Billy Gillen of Winchester, KY MichelGillen of South Carolina Shawn LaRocque of Fredonia, KS Brother - Duane Turner of Greenville, OH Sisters - Doris Coffey of Clinton, MO Treva Ballard of Denair, CA Shirley Dale of Clackamas, OR Twenty-one Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at First Christian Church in Fredonia with Carl Thornton officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be at Fredonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Timmons Funeral Home on Friday, January 30, 2009, from 6:00 P.M. " 7:00 P.M.
