Claudine M. James, 88, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Fredonia, Kansas. She was born January 8, 1924 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Claude W. and Bertha M. (Murdock) Akin. Claudine was a graduate of Wichita North High School. She was a retired headstart teacher for the State of Missouri. On January 27, 1944 in Wellington, Kansas, Claudine married Francis Sinclair James. He preceded her in death December 21, 2004. Claudine was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Fredonia. Claudine is survived by three nephews, Steve White of Omaha, Nebraska, Wallace White of Fredonia, Kansas, and Curtis White of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Her parents; one son, Fred James; and sister, Evelyn White, also preceded her in death. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Farmington Cemetery, north of Fredonia, with Pastor Jeremiah Baird of the Bible Baptist Church officiating. A memorial has been established in Claudine"s name with the American Cancer Society and donations can be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
