Clarence R. Tharp, 88, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away at 10:50 P.M., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Fredonia Regional Hospital.
Clarence Ray Tharp was born May 27, 1929 at Guthrie, Oklahoma the son of Harley Tharp and Nellie (Filmore) Tharp. He grew up in Fredonia and attended country school south of town.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Studebaker and she preceded him in death April 25, 2001.
He served with the United States Army as a mechanic and was later honorably discharged.
Clarence worked for Lafarge Cement Plant in Fredonia for 42 years and retired in 1995.
He enjoyed coyote hunting and The Old Iron Club.
Clarence was a member of the VFW in Fredonia and was a volunteer Firefighter for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Tharp and his wife Nancy Jane of Fredonia, Kansas, Kenneth Tharp and his wife Jeana of Fredonia, Kansas, 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Pauline Gorton and brother, Lester Tharp.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Fredonia City Cemetery with Pastor Gene Benefiel, officiating.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Wilson County Old Iron Club and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
