Clara G. Purdy

Clara Gertrude Purdy, 94 of Fredonia, Kansas, passed away at her home, Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Clara was born, May 26, 1927, in Warrenton, Missouri, to Arthur and Floy Bauman.

On July 7, 1945, Clara married Harry Purdy. They were married 55 years until his death in 2000.

Clara was a CNA and Medication Aid for 45 years at Beverly Nursing Home in Fredonia and Vintage Park at Neodesha, Kansas.

Clara was a member of Grace First Assembly of God in Fredonia, Kansas. Clara loved working, gardening, going on trips to Missouri to visit family, going to auctions and garage sales. She also enjoyed growing flowers and houseplants, canning food, traveling with her husband to buy guns and going hunting. She loved being with her family more than anything else.

Clara is survived by her children; Harriet Powell (Dewayne) Amarillo, Texas, grandsons: Thad Powell (Mary) Amarillo, Texas, David Koch, Fredonia, Kansas, great- grand-children; Hayden Koch, Keaton Landry, Stevie Serrer, Fredonia, Kansas, Timothy, Chris, Daisie, Ashley, Katie, Hunter, Jack, Timmy, Cleo, Korbin and Quinlin.

In addition to her husband, Harry, Clara was preceded in death by daughter, Barbara Purdy and companion, Howard Koch.

Celebration of Life Services will be Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 10:30 am, at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736. Visitation will be Friday, June 4, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
