Clara Belle (McGinnis) Snyder, 88, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of Parsons, Kansas, died Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Stafford Hospital in Stafford, Virginia. For the past three years, Belle has lived in Triangle, Virginia with her granddaughter, Milissa (Roskob) Sanders and her husband, John and three of her great grandchildren. She was born September 19, 1924 in Lafontaine, Kansas, the daughter of Fred D. and May (Tindle) McGinnis. Belle was a bartender and owned Belle"s Lounge in Fredonia for many years. Belle was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Her survivors include: One son: Bill Lewis (Jan) of Monroe City, MO One daughter: Becky Cox of Elk City, KS Three sisters: Freddie Sizemore of Independence, KS Georgia Hendry of Peck, KS Kay Harvey of Kansas City, MO 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren One daughter, Evelyn Roskob; three brothers, Gene McGinnis, Jack McGinnis and Wayne "Bus" McGinnis; and two sisters, Polly McCabe and Fern Schnoor preceded her in death. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, May 13, 2013 at White Cemetery, south of Lafontaine, with Rev. Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in Belle"s name with the V.F.W. and donations can be sent to or left at Timmons Funeral Home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
