Charles T. Parker, 97, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Medical Lodges in Independence, Kansas. He was born March 11, 1918 in Benedict, Kansas, the son of Charles Thornton and Mary Etta (Roberts) Parker Sr. He received as associate"s degree from Neosho County Community College and then he graduated from the St. Louis School of Mortuary Science in 1950. He worked at Boeing in Wichita during WWII. That is where he met his wife. On August 27, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas, Charles was united in marriage to Dulcie Mae Glidewell. She preceded him in death June 3, 2011. Charles began working for the First National Bank in Fredonia in 1951, working his way up over the years to serve as bank president for his final ten years. After 31 years of employment, he retired in 1982. He also served on the Board of Directors for the bank for 54 years. Charles was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and had been a sponsor of MYF for many years. He was also an anchorperson for the church choir. He was also a member of the Benedict Masonic Lodge 403, Fredonia Lions Club, Fredonia Regional Hospital Board of Directors for several terms, Parkview Village Board from its inception and for many years thereafter, and Fredonia Chamber of Commerce. His survivors include: Two children Charis Geisinger and husband, Roger of Bella Vista, AR Craig Parker of Fredonia, KS Grandchildren: Nick Geisinger and wife, Narra of Sarajevo, Bosnia Nathan Geisinger of Charleston, SC Daniel Parker of Kansas City, MO Great Grandchildren: Sasha Geisinger, Eva Geisinger and Kai Geisinger He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Parker and sister, Shirley Scott. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 20, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Charles" name with the Fredonia Regional Health Care Foundation and donations may be sent to the funeral home.
