Charles “Charlie” Nathan Hole was born on July 22, 1935, in Shaw, Kansas to Nathan and Eula (Barker) Hole. Charlie passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by his beloved family. He lived a life filled with hard work and cherished memories, leaving behind a legacy of love that will be missed by all.
Charlie was united in marriage to Beverly Dennis on June 17, 1961, who survives the home. A dedicated family man, Charlie exemplified commitment and diligence throughout his life. His educational journey began at Chanute High School, from which he graduated in 1953, and continued at Chanute Junior College, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Charlie served proudly in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1960.
Beyond his professional life, Charlie found joy in dancing, crocheting, and participating in potluck dinners, where everyone enjoyed his contagious humor. These interests reflected his warm personality and his love for community and family gatherings.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 63 beautiful years, Beverly; his siblings, Lester Hole (Kay), Earl Wayne Hole (Marie) and Janice Hole; his children Charlotte Stout (Ed) of Chanute, KS, Michael Hole (Emma) of Chanute, KS, Monty Hole (Dalene) of Salina, KS, John Hole (Michelle) of Humboldt, KS, and Mindy Churning (Chris) of Chanute, KS. His enduring legacy continues through his grandchildren: Anne, Mary Beth, Crystal, Dawn, Rianna, Becca, Nathan, Malachi, Racheal, Johnny, Kaylie, Emmie, Melissa, and Michael, along with seven great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Charlie Earl Hole, sisters Anna Fegel, Ruth Russell, Jean Wilson, Colleen Westendorf, and Ivah Byers, his brother Xury Hole, and an infant sister, Darlene Hole.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Charlie's life during a visitation on September 6, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on September 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Both events will be held at the Church of the Nazarene, located at 1313 West Fourteenth Street, Chanute, KS 66720. A family dinner will follow the burial.
Memorials are suggested to the Altoona Day’s Association and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
As we remember Charlie, we honor his contributions to his family and community. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
