Charles Albert Poe, 60, a resident of rural Toronto, Kansas, died on Monday, October 4, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born April 4, 1950 in the Dominican Republic, the son of Gilda Godoy. Charles served as a private in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Cross of Gallantry with palm. He was a member of the American Legion Post 325 Toronto, American Legion Post 13 Yates Center, American Legion Riders Post 13 in Yates Center and the Patriot Guard. In November of 2007, he married Pamela Anne Relph at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center, Kansas. She survives him at their home near Toronto. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Pamela, include: His mother: Gilda Godoy of Miami, Florida His father-in-law: Thomas P. Relph of Wichita, Kansas One sister: Lourdes Pou of Miami, Florida Two nieces: Susie Pou of Miami, Florida Maritza Clark of Miami, Florida One cousin: Michael Penna of Miami, Florida Four stepchildren Six step-grandchildren A rosary will be said at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 8, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center. Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Father Robert Wachter officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fredonia, Kansas with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 325-Toronto. Memorials have been established in Charles' name with the American Legion Post 325-Toronto, American Legion Post 13-Yates Center, or the St. Joseph Catholic Church and contributions can be sent to the funeral home.
