Carolyn Jean Cole

Carolyn Jean Cole, 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2024, in Independence, Kansas.

Born on November 9, 1948, to Glen and Ann Lee (Barnes) Prather, Carolyn was a lifelong resident of Independence, where she was known for her kindheartedness, generosity, and loving nature.

She attended Sycamore High School, Carolyn dedicated many years of service to Cobalt Boats in Neodesha and the Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, where her work ethic and commitment were highly regarded.

Carolyn's joy in life was found in the simple pleasures of visiting area casinos and engaging in card games with her family, activities that brought laughter and warmth to those around her.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her son, Kenneth (Tisha Ysusi) Cole; daughter, Shelley (Eric Culbertson); sisters, Velma Prather and Emma Cain; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Raymond Cole, and her daughter, Kristina "Kristy" J. Zinn.

In accordance with her wishes, Carolyn has been cremated and no services are scheduled at this time. The Wickham Family Funeral Home in Cherryvale, Kansas, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. Carolyn's memory will be forever held in the hearts of those she touched.
