Buddy Dean Claibourn, 77, a resident of Fredonia, died April 30, 2007, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born October 23, 1929, near Buffalo, Kansas, the son of Oren and Florence (Henderson) Claibourn. On September 17, 1950, at the Bible Baptist Church in Fredonia, he married Nellie Shay. She survives at the home. Mr. Claibourn served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951 where he received the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars. He was employed by LaFarge North America for 42 years where he retired as an electrician. His memberships include the V.F.W., American Legion and Kansas Coyote Hunters Assoc. His survivors include his wife, Nellie, Two daughters: Cathy Carlson of Yates Center, KS Melissa Shoaf of Fredonia, KS Three sons: Sam Claibourn of Fredonia, KS Warren Claibourn of Altoona, KS Oren Claibourn of Joplin, MO One brother: Raymond Claibourn of Neodesha, KS 17 grandchildren 19 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by one daughter, Audrie Claibourn, and an infant son Ricky Lee Claibourn. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeremiah Baird of the Bible Baptist Church officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Fredonia City Cemetery. Visitation will be at Timmons Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, from 2 PM -7PM with the family receiving friends from 6PM-7PM. A memorial has been established in his name with the Fredonia Flag Fund and may be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS 66736.
