Brenda Kay Lockhart

Brenda Kay (Troutman) Lockhart, 71, a resident of Fredonia, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Cherryvale Nursing and Rehab Center in Cherryvale, Kansas.

Brenda was born November 9, 1947 Neodesha, Kansas, the daughter of Dale and Norma (Wall) Troutman. She grew up in Altoona, graduating from Altoona High School in 1965. She also attended Independence Junior College Cosmetology School.

On July 3, 1965 she was united in marriage to John D. Lockhart, he survives at their home. To this union, two children were born, Shelly and Kimberly Kay.

Brenda worked in beauty shops in Fredonia and Neodesha and a flower shop in Fredonia, until her diagnosis of MS in 1993, forced her to retire.

She was a member of Altoona Christian Church, Royal Neighbors, MS support group and many dance clubs.

Brenda loved to dance, enjoyed crafts, flowers, crocheting, country music and collecting Native American memorabilia.

Brenda was a people person. She loved to help people and especially loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of the Home, daughter, Shelly J. Voth and husband Danny of Liberty, Kansas; brother, David Troutman of Yellville, Arkansas and sister Cheryl (Troutman) Goff of Fredonia, Kansas; grandchildren, Taylor K. Anderson of Chanute, Kansas, Jedidiah “Cade” Voth of Liberty, Kansas and great grandchild, Xevan Khaine Reynolds.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Kimberly Kay (Lockhart) Anderson.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, at the funeral home.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis and Alzheimer’s
Associations and they may be left or mailed to the funeral Home.
