Bonnie Lavonne Dickens, 85, a longtime resident of Altoona, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at her daughter"s home in Kissimmee, Florida. She was born January 14, 1924 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Louis and Virginia (Whited) Pope. She was a homemaker. In 1941 in Thayer, Kansas, she married George Dickens. He preceded her in death November 14, 1995. Bonnie attended the Church of Christ in Fredonia. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Her survivors include: Two sons: Lewis Dickens of Altoona, KS Sidney Dickens of Sand Springs, OK Three daughters: Gay Nell Peckham of Oconomowoc, WI Virginia Lehren of Eureka Springs, AR Debbie Dickens-Backman of Kissimmee, FL One brother: Sidney Pope of Tulsa, OK Twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, David Dickens and George Dickens. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 4, 2010 at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Les Miller of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Sunday 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in Bonnie"s name with the Church of Christ and may be sent to the funeral home.
