Bonita Kay Keenan

Bonita Kay (Johnson) Keenan was born on August 29, 1942 in Ottawa, KS and died September 5, 2021 in Parsons, KS.

She grew up on a farm in Pomona, KS and graduated from Pomona High in 1960.

After finishing high school she moved to Topeka, KS and worked in the State Offices.

She met and married the love of her life Donald Paul Keenan of Alliance on August 11, 1961 in the First Church of the Nazarene in Topeka, KS.

She spent 20 years being an Air Force wife and worked for the State of MI.

She worked for the IRS in Kansas City and then was a Pastors wife for 20 years. She volunteered at Ecan in Burlington, KS and did tax preparations. After Pastoral Retirement she became a member of Independence Church of the Nazarene in Independence, KS.

She was a mom to her 3 children for 50 plus years and a grandma to the grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard L. Johnson and Theta L. (Rice) Johnson and a grandson, Bryan Jessip.

She is survived by her sister: Sharon Rae Johnson of Ottawa, KS, her husband: Don Keenan of the home in Cherryvale, KS, her children: Kelly (Wayne) Jessip of DeSoto, KS, Shane (Vicki) Keenan of Independence, KS, Paul (Dawn) Keenan of Neodesha, KS.

Her 7 grandchildren: Leslie Jessip, Ashlyn Kuykendell, Braycee Sobley, Michael Keenan, Natosha Keenan, Casi Keenan and Logan Keenan, and several great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life Services will be held 1:30 P.M., Friday, September 10, 2021 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas.
