Bob Imel, 87, of Fredonia, Kansas died Friday, July 26, 2019 at his home.
Bobby Lee Imel was born July 18, 1932 at Independence, Kansas the son of Freddie Lee Imel and Nina (McHugh) Imel. He grew up in Neodesha, Kansas and graduated from Neodesha High School.
On June 12, 1969 in Fredonia he was united in marriage to Caroline Katherine Morrison and she survives at the home.
Bob enlisted with the United States Navy May 3, 1952 and was honorably discharged May 1, 1956 serving during the Korean War.
He worked for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas and was a self-employed carpenter. After he retired from carpentry work, he went back to work as the custodian at the State Bank in Fredonia.
Bob was a member of the Buxton Christian Church, Fredonia Golf Club and past member of the Masonic Lodge in Wichita.
He had many hobbies, woodworking, painting, playing golf and loved to tell his Navy stories. He will be remembered for being a good cook, especially his chili and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Carole of the home, children, Terry Marr of Coyville, Kansas, Cyndi Ireland of Anthony, Kansas, Lisa White of Fredonia, Kansas, Stacie Ray of Fredonia, Kansas, Brad Imel of Anthony, Kansas, Pam Laverty of Fredonia, Kansas, Linda Kay Zimmerman of Harper, Kansas, 24 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Brian Imel.
Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday July 29, 2019 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
Private family inurnment will take place later.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the American Heart Association and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
