Betty J. Kelley

Betty J. Kelley, 79, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at her home with family at her side.

Betty Jean Kelley was born July 5, 1942, in Cherryvale the daughter of James M. Ballew and Katherine Maxine (Miller) Ballew. She grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1961.

On June 6, 1966, in Independence, Kansas she was united in marriage to Danny Arion Kelley, and he preceded her in death August 1, 2005.

Betty was a homemaker taking care of her husband and family. She enjoyed, sewing, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, puzzles, word searches and animals. She loved the outdoors. She really liked going to the races to watch her grandson and great grandson.

Survivors include her daughters, Dana Ballew of Wichita, Kansas and Lynda Kelley of Cherryvale, Kansas, brother, Robert “Bud” Ballew of Independence, Kansas, 5 grandchildren, Kristal Kendall (Tommy) of Coffeyville, Kansas, Shane Ballew (Beth) of Cherryvale, Tyler Kelley (Ivy) of Cherryvale, Makayla Songer (McKadin) of North Carolina, Cory Kelley of Cherryvale and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Mitchell.

The family will welcome friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.

Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 30, 2021, at Wickham Family Funeral Home.

Interment will follow services in Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the American Cancer Society, and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
