Bernard Raymond Darst, 93, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas and formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas, died Friday, February 2, 2007 at Via Christi St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born February 11, 1913 in Fredonia, the son of Frank and Maude (Skaggs) Darst. He was a retired sales associate for Buckner Furniture Store in Coffeyville, where he had been employed for more than 40 years. He was married Doris Blendena Kelso. She preceded him in death in 1994. He and his wife, Blendena, were very active with the Moose Lodge in Coffeyville, where Bernard played drums in the local Moose Lodge Band. His survivors include: One son: James R. Darst of Mount Dora, FL One brother: John Darst of Fredonia, KS Two sisters: Gwendolyn Spillman of Bella Vista, AR Betty Barnes of Panama City, FL 5 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Yvonne Holt. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Patty Sherman of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Havana City Cemetery in Havana, Kansas. A memorial has been established in his name with Fredonia Senior Citizens and may be sent to the funeral home.
