Bernard J. Westhoff, 93, of Parsons, Kansas formerly of Cherryvale passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Labette Medical Center in Parsons.
Bernard Joseph Westhoff was born December 1, 1923 in Greenbush, Kansas the son of Francis Edward Westhoff and Anna (George) Westhoff. He grew up in Parsons and attended Parsons Schools.
On November 18, 1950 in Parsons he was united in marriage to Lois L. Miller and she preceded him in death December 20, 1986.
He served with the United States Army from 1943 until honorably discharged in 1946.
Bernard work as a truck driver for Capital Truck Lines later Graves Truck Lines for many years retiring in the early 1980’s.
Bernard will be remembered for being a wonderful husband and dad, hard worker and a man with broad shoulder that carried a lot. He loved to eat and liked cars especially Ford trucks and Oldsmobile cars.
He was a member of the VFW in Parsons, Knights of Columbus in Cherryvale and Teamsters Union.
Survivors include children, BJ Westhoff Jr. of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Vallie Addis of Oswego, Kansas, Michael Westhoff of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ren Westhoff of Parsons, Kansas, Francis “Frank” Westhoff of Cherryvale, Kansas, Theresa Cameron of Cherryvale, Kansas, sister, Francie Ann Mollicini of Littleton, Colorado, 14 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Dean Westhoff, 3 brothers, 6 sisters, and one granddaughter.
Friends may sign the register book Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M., Sunday July, 2, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday July, 3, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Marco De Loera, celebrant.
Interment with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard will be held immediately following services in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Knights of Columbus and they may be mailed or left at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 Eat 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
