Benjamin F. Johnson, 68, retired USDA and state grain inspector, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at Beverly Health and Rehab in Fredonia, Kansas. He was born December 10, 1937 in Neodesha, Kansas, the son of Albert M. and Helen (Fairchild) Johnson. He was a graduate of Fredonia High School and Neosho County Community College. He served with the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961. On November 10, 1961, he married Betty L. Toon of Fredonia, Kansas. She survives at their home. Benjamin was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Fredonia. He helped with meals on wheels and attended Seniors of S. E. Kansas Ministry. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors, in addition to his wife Betty L. include:Two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Melissa Johnson of Chanute, KS; Garon and Rae Ann Johnson of Garnett, KS; One Brother, Steve and wife Mary Johnson of Copan, OK; Four Grandchildren:Jordan, Zach, Emmily and Tanner Johnson; Sisters-in-law:Sharon & husband Steve Fraser of Fredonia, KS; Marjorie & husband Raymond Reinhart of Minneapolis, KS; Brother-in-law: Alfred R. & wife Joyce Toon Branson, MO; Aunt, Naomi Taylor of Carthage, MO; Several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Timmons Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sherman officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-7 with the family receiving from friends 6-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to the First Assembly of God Church in Fredonia and can be sent to the funeral home.
