Beatrice Doane

Beatrice Doane, 101, a lifelong resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died early Thursday morning, January 10, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Fredonia. She was born March 17, 1911 in Fredonia, the daughter of Charlie and Zella (Andrew) Claiborn. On November 18, 1929, in Fredonia, Beatrice was united in marriage to Bliss Delbert Doane. Bliss preceded her in death January 2, 1991. Mr. and Mrs. Doane co-owned and operated Doane"s Furniture Store in Fredonia. Beatrice continued to work at the store, currently owned by her son and daughter-in-law, as much as her health allowed. Beatrice was a member of the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia where she served as a Sunday school teacher for more than 35 years and was active with the local women's missionary group. She was past president and longtime member of the Fredonia Business Women. Beatrice was always busy sewing for herself, her family and for many charitable organizations. Beatrice is survived by: Two daughters: Emma Jean Snook of Santa Ana, CA Leota Fitzsimmons of Wann, OK One son: Roland Doane of Fredonia, KS 10 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren; and 15 Great Great Grandchildren; 5 Step Grandchildren, 16 Step Great Grandchildren and 6 Step Great Great Grandchildren Her husband, Bliss; two daughters, Frances Mae Law and Betty Jo Doane; her sister, Freda Wardlow; two brothers, Alvie Claiborn and Cecil Claiborn; two granddaughters, Brenda Snook and Valerie Law; and two son-in-laws, Virgel Law and Raymond Snook, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia with Pastor Ryan Akers, Pastor Steve Snook and Pastor Brock Snook officiating. Private family burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Wednesday, 2:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in Beatrice"s name with the Calvary Wesleyan Church and donations may be sent to or left at Timmons Funeral Home. Family condolences may be left on this website.
