Barbara (Maxine) Willis Johnson-Carlson 96, of Chanute, KS., passed away at her home peacefully September 4, 2021.
Maxine was born in Chanute, KS, to Samuel and Barbara (Jackson) Willis on October 13, 1924.
She graduated from Chanute Senior High school in 1942.
Maxine was united in marriage to Marion Johnson June 19, 1942 in Humboldt, KS. Marion preceded her in death, January of 1975. She later was united in marriage to Wayne Carlson, in April of 1980, he preceded her in death in December of 2005.
Barbara spent her working years as an accountant for Skiles Oil, Credit Thrift, and Ellis Dodge.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chanute, KS, and enjoyed golf, bridge, baking cakes, and spending time with her grandchildren that loved her dearly.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Derek) Baughn and Patricia Bolander, both of Chanute, KS and one sister Doris Dahlgren of Chanute, KS. Her grandchildren; Justa (Alex) Edwards, Danielle (David) Stich, Blake (Keri) Bolander, Bethany Bolander, and Preston and Isabella Baughn. Her great grandchildren; Ayson, and Chevin Edwards, Delanie, Dawson, and Dalton Stich, and Bryle Bolander.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one son, Stevie Johnson, a brother, Jack Willis, and grandchildren, Nathan Baughn, Laikyn Baughn, and Barron Welch, Johnson.
Memorials have been suggested to First United Methodist Church of Chanute and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
A private family graveside will be at Odense Cemetery Rural Chanute, Ks. Thursday, September, 9, 2021.
Services are under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home 500 North Forest Ave. Chanute, KS 66720.
