Lyle D. Mattix, 69, passed away Tuesday at Guest Home Estates in Ft. Scott, Kansas.
He was born and raised in Fredonia, Kansas and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1969.
After graduation, he went to work for the Wilson County Road Department, where worked his entire career of 33 ½ years retiring in 2004.
He enjoyed fishing and bird hunting with his dogs. His past hobbies included raising and caring for carrier pigeons and collecting pocket knives.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Yardley of Tulsa, Oklahoma., sisters, Linda Scott of Dallas, Texas, Karen Bracken of Omaha, Nebraska, and brother, James Mattix of Independence, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 5, 2020 at Wickham Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Interment will follow services at Maple Grove Cemetery near Roper, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the MS Society.
