Kenneth Edward Lance, 81, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of Neodesha, Kansas and Dickinson, Texas, died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Fredonia. He was born July 13, 1930 in Buffalo, Kansas, the son of Oscar and Pearl (Cole) Lance. Kenneth was a 1950 graduate of Neodesha High School. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. Kenneth was a refinery operator for Standard Oil and Amoco, working in both Neodesha and later in Dickinson, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Neodesha. His hobbies included photography, coin collecting, woodworking, and working on cars. He enjoyed and was an avid traveler His survivors include: Three brothers: Ted Lance of Frankfort, KY Jack Lance of Derby, KS Leslie Lance of Woodland, CA Two sisters: Barbara Gorton of Fredonia, KS Florence Guiou of Fredonia, KS His parents and one brother, Donald Lance, preceded Kenneth in death. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Maple Grove Cemetery near Roper, Kansas, with Pastor Mike Hughes of the Cornerstone Christian Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in Kenneth"s name with St. Jude"s Children"s Hospital and contributions can be sent to the funeral home.
