Cecil C. Clifton

Cecil C. Clifton, 94, of Independence, Kansas formerly of Oroville, California passed away Saturday morning, August 5, 2023, at his son’s residence in rural Independence.

Cecil Charles Clifton was born June 19, 1929, in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Charles C. Clifton and Pearl (Couch) Clifton. He served with United States Army from 1951 until honorably discharged in 1953.

On September 3, 1960, in Ashland, Oregon he was united in marriage to Frances H. Palmer, and she survives at the home.

Cecil enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, gold panning and collecting rare Avon bottles.

He was a roofer in California for 38 years.

Survivors include his wife Frances of Cherryvale, Kansas, children, Ruth Goins (Les) of Thayer, Kansas, Charles Clifton of Corydon, Indiana, Paul Clifton (Vicki) of Independence, Kansas, brother, James Clifton of Oroville, California and 8 grandchildren, Ryan Goins (Alicia), Darrin Goins (Maria), Brett Goins (Tina), Caleb Clifton (Lydia), Cassandra Sutherland (Oliver), Daniel Clifton, Chad Clifton, Darrell Clifton (Rebecca), 10 great grandchildren, Devon, Landyn, Courtney, Nichole, Bradyn, Kaylee, Calissa, Lydia, Peyton and Emma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stanley Clifton and 3 sisters, Geneva Gregory, Frances Miller and Anita Miller.

Cremation has taken place under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335. Private family services will be held at a later date.
