Arthur Edgar Reeves, 94, a resident of Fredonia, formerly of Fall River and Wichita, died Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Golden Keys Nursing Home in Neodesha. He was born October 10, 1911 in Cotter, Arkansas, the son of Harvey Lacurgles and Ada (Anderson) Reeves. On October 2, 1930, he married Gearldine Jordan. She preceded him in death July 11, 1999. Mr. Reeves began working for the railroad in Cotter in 1937, and was transferred to Wichita Railroad Terminal in 1950. He retired from the railroad as a Diesel Engineer in 1975. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and had held the post of Lodge Chairman. Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Fall River and then to Fredonia. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Fredonia. His survivors include: One daughter Gerry Ann Calame of Fredonia, KS One brother: John Reeves of Salesville, AR Three grandchildren and four great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Arthur Eugene Reeves; and two sisters, Edna Thurman and Cora Mae Goates. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at the Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Sherman of the First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Timmons Funeral Home on Monday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. The family has established memorials in his name with the First Assembly of God Church Missions Fund or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and donations may be sent to the funeral home.
