ROBERT "ROB" CURTIS GILLRobert "Rob" C. Gill, 58, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.Robert Curtis Gill was born May 20, 1956 in Independence, Kansas the son of James "Jim" Gill and Harriett (Dwyer) Gill. He grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1974. He later attended Coffeyville Junior College and played on the Red Raven football team. He also attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg now known as Pittsburg State University.On August 9, 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Susan Edgerle and she survives at the home.Rob lived his entire life in the Cherryvale community and started selling insurance at the age of 17 years old. He worked at Jim Gill Agency for 39 years and was still working at the time of his death as Agent and Real Estate Broker. He was a Certified Insurance Counselor helping many agents and clients with all kinds of insurance needs. He also received the honor as being a Kansas Insurance Agent of the Year.Rob was a member of the Cherryvale Presbyterian Church, leader of the Men"s Bible Study on Monday nights, Board Member of Peoples State Bank, Board Member of Montgomery County Action Council (MAAC), Cherryvale Chamber of Commerce, BARCOF stock club and many other Cherryvale community boards.While attending Cherryvale High School and playing football Rob achieved many honors most notably Most Valuable Player of the Tri Valley League his Junior and Senior year as a middle linebacker.Rob loved to garden, fish, was an avid Chiefs fan, Royals fan and Jayhawk fan, but more importantly was all about his family and church. He will be remembered as a family man and celebrating holidays with his family.Survivors include his wife Susan of the home, mother, Harriett Gill of Cherryvale, KS, children, Adam Gill and his wife Misty of Cherryvale, KS, Jake Gill of Cherryvale, KS, Chris Yates and his wife Jennifer of Olathe, KS, Dawn Yates of Cherryvale, KS, brother, Rick Gill and his wife Sally of Cherryvale, KS, sister, Libby Boldra and her husband Carl of, Neodesha, KS, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.Celebration of Life Services for Robert "Rob" Gill will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Cherryvale Presbyterian Church with Pastor John Chastain, officiating.Friends may sign the register book from 12Noon until 8:00 P.M. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, KS 67335. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale following the church service.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Cherryvale Presbyterian Church and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
