PATRICIA L. MESSNERPatricia L. Messner, 73 died at 9:55 P.M. on July 3, 2016 at her home in Coffeyville, Kansas after a long illness.Patricia was born June 3, 1943 to Forrest and Vivian (Friley) Hawkins at her family"s home in Cherryvale, Kansas. She was raised and attended schools in Cherryvale graduating from Cherryvale High School on 1961. She resided in Cherryvale until her retirement. At that time, she moved to Coffeyville to be near her daughter.On August 14, 1961 she was united in marriage to John Messner at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1989.Patricia was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and Altar Society. She loved taking care of her extended family and watching her favorite sports teams on television. She spent many hours embroidering and making quilts for her many nieces and nephews and their children. She was actively involved in church activities and spent time volunteering with various projects at her church.Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Reardon and spouse Dan, and one grandson Jonathon Reardon of Coffeyville, Kansas, brother, Bob Hawkins and wife Linda of Cherryvale, Kansas, two sisters, Connie Burns of Lewisville, Texas, Mary Jo Karstetter and husband Stan ofCherryvale, Kansas. She is also survived by sister in law, Phyllis Hawkins of Independence, Kansas. In addition, she is survived by a large host of extended family.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant son, John Patrick Messner. Also preceding her in death is a sister, Judy Tyler and husband Doyle, and two brothers, Charles Hawkins and Forrest Hawkins Jr.Reciting of the Rosary will be held 7:30 P.M., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Friends may sign the register book from 12 Noon until 5:00 P.M., Thursday at Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale.Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 8, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment will follow service in Fairview Cemetery.Memorial remembrances are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
