LAWRENCE ANDREWSLawrence "Cowboy" Andrews, 72, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Sunday evening at his home with family and friends"at his side.Lawrence was born March 18, 1942 in Falls County, Texas the son of David Samster and Lula Bell (Huff) Andrews. He grew up in Falls County, Texas and the surrounding area.On June 25, 1969 Lawrence was united in marriage to Nancy Ruth Guier and they made their home in Independence before moving to Cherryvale in 1974.Lawrence worked various jobs throughout his life. He worked for a distributorship for Starcraft in Waco, Texas before coming to Independence in 1968 to work for the main Starcraft plant as a truck driver until they closed. He worked for O"Malley Equipment Company for almost 20 years as a truck driver and retired from there in 2004. He also worked for the cement plant in Independence"for a little over 10 years. He always loved to drive trucks.His hobby was "work." When not working at a job, he enjoyed restoring old pickups and working with cattle on the farm. He never knew a stranger and always stopped to help someone in need.Survivors include his wife Nancy of the home, son, James and wife Alison Andrews of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, two grandchildren, Jordan and Morgan of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, one brother, Davis G. Andrews of Jewett, Illinois, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters and one son, David.Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale. Kansas. Friends may sign the register book Wednesday from 12Noon until 8:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.Memorial remembrances are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Hazeldell Southern Baptist Church and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
