KATHLEEN JANELL "KAY" DRISKELKathleen "Kay" J. Driskel, 89, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away late Thursday at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale, 216 East 4th, Street, Cherryvale, Kansas." Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale.Friends may sign the register book from 12Noon until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Wickham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Cherryvale Public Library and they may left at or mailed to the funeral home.Kathleen Janell Driskel was born May 22, 1924 in Fayetteville, Arkansas the daughter of Charles L. Smith and Daisy (McDonald) Smith." She graduated from Parsons High School, received her Associates degree in Psychology from Independence Community College and trained to be a nurse for two years in Parsons.On July 7, 1944 in Winfield, Kansas she was united in marriage to Franklin Eugene "Stoney" Driskel and he preceded her in death January 17, 2001.Kay has lived in Cherryvale since 1952 and worked for H.D. Lee"s Manufacturing and also worked in the personnel department as a cashier for KGE for 15 years." She also worked at the Cherryvale Public Library for many years.Memberships include the First Baptist Church of Cherryvale and the Cherryvale Women"s Group." She was an avid reader, loved being outdoors and loved being around family and friends especially her granddaughters and great grandchildren.Survivors include son Glen E. Driskel and wife Sharon of Cherryvale, Kansas, two granddaughters, Melanie Hammer and husband Mike of Cherryvale, Kansas, Michelle Ast and husband Brad of Garden Plain, Kansas, five great grandchildren, Shane Hammer and his wife Sarah"of Manhattan, Kansas, Jacob and Joseph Hammer of Cherryvale, Kansas, Brady and Brianna Ast of Garden Plain, Kansas.She was the last survivor of seven children." She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
