Jerry Leon Robinson

Jerry Leon Robinson, 74, of Buffalo, Kansas, passed away on September 17, 2026, at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, KS, with his beloved wife, best buddy Rusty, and Teri by his side. He was born on February 11, 1952, in Fredonia, Kansas, to Eugene Everett Robinson and Edna Mabel (Brown) Robinson.

. On September 13, 1980, he was united in marriage to Edwena Sue Hightower at the Buffalo Nazarene Church.

Jerry attended Altoona Midway School, where he later on got his GED, as he was known to be a worker his whole life. He retired from Advanced Systems Homes and served as the Mayor of Buffalo, Kansas, for more than 30 years, a role that reflected his steady commitment to public service. He was known as a jack of all trades, someone who was always willing to lend a hand. Those who knew Jerry knew his heart of gold and the generous spirit he brought to everyday life.

Jerry will be remembered as a hardworking and dependable man who gave much of himself to both his family and his community.

He found joy in woodworking, hunting, farming, and contract work, and he especially enjoyed what he called Wheelin & Dealin. Jerry also took pride in his daily mayoral duties and treasured the time he spent with his family and close friends.

His life was marked by industry, kindness, and a readiness to lend a hand wherever it was needed.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Edwena Sue Robinson of the home, his son, John Robinson, as well as his godchildren, Cheyenne (Robinson) Kyser and Braden Robinson.

Jerry was blessed with 5 grandchildren, 3 bonus grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was the 7th child out of a family of 12 children. His surviving siblings are Juanita Olberding, Gary (Kathy) Robinson, Pauline Robinson, George Robinson, Jane Gambill, Vicki (Tim) Elleman, Wayne (Lynette) Robinson, and Roy Robinson.

He leaves behind the love and memory he shared with his family, whose lives were shaped by his strength, determination, humor, and caring nature.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Robinson; his grandson, Corey Robinson; and his sisters, Billy (Jim) Woods, Shirley Ayling, Dixie Hatter; and 2 brother in-laws Richard and Harold. Their memories remained an important part of his life and story.

Jerry Leon Robinson will be remembered with gratitude and affection for his years of service, his willingness to work hard, and the kindness he extended to so many.

Memorials are suggested to the City of Buffalo, Kansas, Parks Department and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.

A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m- 7:00 p.m at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Ave, Chanute, KS 66720.

A Celebration of Jerry’s life will be announced and held at a later date.
