Geraldine M. WhiteheadGeraldine M. Whitehead, 79, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away at 2:04 A.M., Saturday morning, November 26, 2016 at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.Geraldine Mae Whitehead was born November 28, 1936 in Fredonia, Kansas the daughter of John Alfred Million and Ila Reah (Heiser) Million. She grew up in Fredonia and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1955.On April 6, 1958 in Fredonia, Kansas at the First United Methodist she was united in marriage to John Whitehead Jr. and he survives at the home.She was a housewife and homemaker. Her favorite hobbies were collecting coffee mugs and snowbabies. She also loved crocheting, embroidery, and a seamstress. She made her children"s clothes when they were younger.Geraldine will be remembered for being a good and loving wife, mom, grandma and great grandma.She was a member of the Helpful Neighbors Club, NCO Wives Club, Officers Club and Fredonia Business Women.While living as a military wife she traveled to: Chicago, Illinois, El Paso, Texas, Leavenworth, Kansas, Omaha, Nebraska, Homewood, Illinois, Fairbanks, Alaska, Homestead, Florida, Frankfort and Bremerhaven, Germany.Survivors include husband John of the home, daughter, Tammy Higerd and her husband William Lynn of Colby, Kansas, sons, John Robert Whitehead III and his wife Katherine of Hancock, Iowa, Thomas Wayne Whitehead and his wife Lea Ann of Independence, Kansas, sisters, Lucille Shinkle and her husband Clairan of Fredonia, Kansas, Elizabeth Mason and her husband Calvin of Independence, Kansas, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter.Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th Street Fredonia, Kansas with Pastor Gene Benefiel, officiating.The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the funeral home.Interment will immediately follow the service in Fredonia City Cemetery.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Flag Fund and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
