BERTHA MAY BERGMANBertha M. Bergman, 67, of Cherryvale passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Cherryvale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Bertha May Bergman was born June 17, 1946 at Baxter Springs, Kansas the daughter of Elbert Lewis and Virginia (Houston) Lewis. She grew up in the Treece, Kansas and Columbus, Kansas areas and graduated from Cherokee County Rural High School in Columbus, Kansas on May 26, 1965.She worked the assembly line at Emerson Electric and retired after 25 years of service.On February 14, 1969 in Treece, Kansas she was united in marriage to William Joseph Bergman and he survives at the home.Bertha was a loving, caring and giving person. She loved sewing, photography, butterflies and family.Survivors include husband Bill of the home, niece who she helped raise, Terri Kay Sumner, brothers and sisters, Roy James Lewis, Beverly Ann Jones, Elbert Odis Lewis, Virginia Marie Goforth Cline, Frieda Kay Andres, Jesse Dean Lewis, Lola Fay Wright, Glen Dale Lewis, Rebecca Sue Tabbour, Harold Lewis and numerous other nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John Wayne Lewis and Ivan Lewis.Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June, 19, 2014 at Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas with Eric Lang, pastor of the Cherryvale Christian Church. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Cherryvale, Kansas.Friends may sign the register book from 12 Noon until 8:00 P.M Wednesday at Wickham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Alzheimer"s association and they may left or mailed to the funeral home.
